Rosco's Miro Cube WNC quickly presented itself as the best solution to provide the Petersen Automotive Museum with the technology they required to create dynamic lighting to illuminate their ever-changing exhibits. Chris Werner - Lighting Designer
LitePads turned out to be an interesting energy-savings solution. In addition, they allowed us to create light boxes that were only 10 cm thick, which gained us good deal of space compared to the traditional 30 cm fluorescent boxes we had been using. Francisco Bermejo - Architect
The X24 Projector offered an almost 3-D effect of rippling water. I had never seen anything like it … and still haven’t. Robert Jones – Lighting Designer

The Challenge

The original entrance canopy for the Bloodstone building, a Central Quay office building in Dublin’s Docklands, lacked a sense of presence at street level. Plus Architecture was commissioned to design a new entryway to enlighten, enliven and improve the building's identity.

Working closely with lighting designers from Arup-Ireland, Plus Architecture chose Rosco Custom LitePads to enhance the entryway. To bring their concept to life, 2800K Custom LitePad HO90 units were mounted in the ceiling of the entryway, while others were used to backlight the company’s name & logo. Mark Reilly, Senior Project Engineer for Arup Ireland said this about installing LitePad HO90 in the project: “The low-voltage LED light source provided even, indirect illumination, and each panel was flexible enough to be customised to the specific size requirements of each application. LitePad HO90 not only met the high light level requirements of the client, but it also worked within the budget and schedule constraints of the project.”

The Challenge

The design goal of The Blue Planet, Denmark’s national aquarium, was to make the aquarium’s visitors feel like they had entered the world of the sea. Lighting designer Jesper Garde Kongshaug needed to create stunning, realistic and controllable water effects and use them throughout the vast concourse areas inside the aquarium to accomplish that goal.

Kongshaug and his team installed over forty Rosco DMX-controlled X24 Effect Projectors throughout the building’s 53 aquariums. This gave Kongshaug complete control of the speed, direction and coverage of the projected water effects being created.

Rosco Solution

The X24 Effects Projector’s large-scale, rippling light output produces the most organic water effect available. The X24 is the perfect choice for aquariums, museums and retail stores that need to create a realistic water environment.

Inspired by the “swirling waters” of Copenhagen’s Kastrup Harbor, The Blue Planet’s design team hoped to create ethereal water effects that would bring its visitors “into the world of the fish and the life they live under the sea.”

Jesper Kongshaug’s stunning lighting design used the X 24 Effects Projectors to project the swirling waters of the sea inside the aquarium. The immersive vision of his design makes every visitor to The Blue Planet Aquarium feel like they are actually in the water with sea animals from around the world.
