This is a moment from RENT, in the song "Christmas Bells." The scene is a montage of different moments around the stage, that happen in rapid succession. The color palette was shades of blue because of the location and weather of the scene: exterior, possibly in the shadow of tall buildings, and snowy. Therefore, I chose R64 downlight as the key for most of the scene, while highlighting the various moments with less saturated colors. R64 is somewhat saturated but will still provide non-blue color rendering, making it a good choice for a stage wash. The brighter front-light in photo 1 is R53, a light lavender that blends well with cool and warm light. The diagonal up-light in photo 2 is R60, which I used as color correction to create "white" light next to R64. A simple change in color temperature and angle created two very different feelings for these moments within the overall scene, with no alteration to the base lighting look.
