Lighting Design: Matthew Haber

As a show, The Odditorium was strongly influenced by the design and performance aesthetics of early twentieth century circuses. Since that was a period of time in which circuses didn't have lighting, for my lighting design a drew inspiration from the other colors of the circus, most significantly the archetypical saturated and intense colors found on performers' costumes and the tents in which the circus would have been housed. When I was choosing colors R358 Rose Indigo really spoke to me. It is a really deep and lovely color and it looked fantastic on the deck. Obviously R358 can look a little odd when it is cast, unadulterated, on skin so I used R05 Rose Tint and R02 Bastard Amber for front and front-side lights to help to clean up the stage wash as far as the performers themselves were concerned.
